Recently I was honored to be endorsed by the Capital Group Sierra Club in the 2013 City Council race. This is especially significant to me in part because this is the first time I have received this endorsement. I have always felt strongly about the preservation of the environment and increasing sustainability and I am honored the Sierra Club would consider me a solid choice.
Since being elected your city councilor I have worked tirelessly to protect the environment around us from supporting parks and greenways to pushing for stronger policies on solar power and more public transit investment. Recently I held a Raleigh Plus Hangout to discuss a sustainable way to increase our recycling while reducing our financial burden and solid waste disposal.
But my values don’t stop with the policies I support. I drive a Nissan Leaf, my electric car which gives me the equivalent of 129 miles per gallon. I live close to work, so I can often walk or bike between the office and home. While having two kids in diapers creates a lot of trash, my wife and I have worked to minimize what we throw out and recycle and reuse as much as possible.
Thank you to the Capital Group Sierra Club for endorsing me! I will continue to work diligently towards the values we both see as so important to our city and our nation.
